Holy Crap! It’s a double-feature!

👋🏼 Hey Reader,

This week is a short week masquerading as a long week. It always happens that way. Where we're expecting ourselves to do 100% of the work in 80% of the time. So, it’s time to adjust what 100% looks like and that starts with setting expectations - for me and others around me. And in a short week, that means I kick up the prioritization a notch.

I’m still committed to bringing you some small bits of great information in the world of work that I believe helps you redefine how you're working at work. That’s the whole point of the Career Catalyst…to catalyze.

Here are 2 places I appeared out in the world this week which I can't quite believe.

Here is a short article that hit the press this week.

It’s about looking after your own career while in a service-focused industry. Often we put others first so, in this CareerWise Weekly article, I look at how career development professionals can start to look after themselves in their own career development. (and just some really great tips for all of us, regardless of industry!)

And if you want to learn a little bit more about me and how I got this gig, check out the conversation I had with David Driver of the Manitoba Association for Career Development in his podcast Career Conversations.

Episode 34 is all about me, my coaching philosophy and how I got into podcasting.

Alright! That’s it.

Short and sweet and full of promise.

If there is a topic you’d like me to speak or chat more about, just reply to this email and let me know. I would love to hear from you.

Hope your day brings you more joy than expected.

👋🏼 Hey Reader, I just got back from my time at FolkFest and holy smokes was it fun. It was an opportunity for me to step away from work for a bit without having to worry about what's waiting for me back at the office. I had a chance to really fill my boots. But I noticed that not everyone there was there to disconnect and enjoy their time. Stepping away from work can be challenging. Often, the overwhelm we feel is because we haven't set ourselves up for success. So here's my trick: Buffer...

👋🏼 Hey Reader, I hope you’re finding ways to enjoy your summer! I’m getting ready for the Winnipeg Folkfest. It’s something I do every year - 18 of the last 52 anyway! Despite the rising temperatures, my excitement isn’t dampened because these are the four days in July that I wait for all year. It’s a time for me to be surrounded by like-minded people who all want the world to be a little softer and kinder. It’s a place where I get to celebrate people and the power of community accompanied by...

👋🏼 Hello Reader, Last week, I had the joy of spending quality time with my family as we celebrated my kiddo's transition from high school to university. It’s such an exciting time for us. Throughout the week, we encountered some pretty intense moments. Instead of trying to control everything or force outcomes, I asked a lot of questions, particularly, "What do you need right now that would make things a little easier?" This approach was invaluable, helping both overwhelmed grandparents and...
